Trump is greatest threat to international security claimed ex MI6 head Sir John Sawers this week. The biggest threat is "how we adjust to the progressive withdrawal of American leadership and the network of alliances, the US maintained with Europe and Asian countries".
It is a good call. The challenge to NAFTA, NATO, the EU, Germany, climate change and the Paris accord are creating serious cause for concern and demanding the realignments of traditional treaty dependencies. Trump myopia is creating a power vacuum in Asia, Africa and parts of Eastern Europe into which new states will step. China will benefit in Africa, South America, Australasia and Asia at the expense of the US and the "West".
In the Middle East, the arms sales trip to Saudi, led to the calls against Iran and an alliance of Sunni states against Shia Iran. The nomination of Iran as the terror state is ill judged and ill timed. Iran is the emerging economy destined to become one of the most powerful in the region. Trump fails to demonstrate vision. The engagement in Syria a measure of the lack of international perspective and sensitivity to the proxy war involving Russia, Turkey, Kurdistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel.

Ending the rumours he had started of course. The tape thing was designed to put the former boss of the FBI under pressure as he gave evidence to congress! As if! The Russian investigations are weighing on the White House. "If Russia was working so hard on the 2016 election, why didn't the Obama regime stop them?" the President tweeted this week. The Mueller investigation drags on and closer to the Oval office ...
